about project

The Client

As a leading private healthcare provider in Indonesia, Siloam Hospitals combines wide network coverage, modern facilities, and professional expertise to offer quality and accessible medical services.

Challenge

Siloam Hospitals aimed to enhance patient experience by reducing wait times and simplifying the overall visit journey. Previously, patients were required to go through the receptionist just to retrieve their visit number—an approach that often led to long queues and unnecessary delays. This conventional method created friction and slowed down the check-in and checkout process for both patients and staff.

To address this, Siloam introduced a self-service kiosk that allows patients to independently manage their check-in and checkout. By scanning a barcode—either from the MySiloam App or printed by the receptionist—patients can instantly retrieve their registered data and obtain a visit number without standing in line. After completing their consultation, the same kiosk enables them to check out, view prescribed medications, choose delivery or pickup options, and even schedule follow-up visits. This digital transformation not only streamlines hospital workflows but also empowers patients to take control of their healthcare experience.

Our Solution

Designing for Siloam’s self-service kiosk meant addressing a diverse user base, spanning across all age groups. To ensure accessibility for everyone—from young adults to elderly patients—we focused on creating a highly intuitive and user-friendly interface. The user flow was intentionally kept simple and minimal, allowing patients to check in or out with ease, without unnecessary steps or confusion. Our goal was to deliver a seamless digital experience that complements Siloam’s commitment to excellent healthcare service.

Designer’s Words

As the UI/UX Designer for Siloam's self-service kiosk, I focused on creating an intuitive and accessible interface that accommodates users of all ages. My goal was to simplify the check-in and checkout experience, ensuring patients could navigate the system quickly and independently, without the need for assistance.

Self-Service Healthcare at Your Fingertips

Optimizing patient flow and reducing wait times was a key challenge. Our solution for Siloam Hospitals: a user-friendly Self Check-In Kiosk. By scanning a barcode from the My Siloam App or reception – their 'digital passport' – patients quickly confirm their details and receive a visit number, bypassing traditional queues. This design prioritizes efficiency and empowers a prompt start to their appointments.

Hospital visits extend beyond the consultation. Recognizing the need to streamline prescription collection and follow-up scheduling, we conceived the Siloam Self Check-Out Kiosk. By scanning their initial barcode, patients gain control, choosing medication delivery or pickup and even scheduling future visits. This innovation transforms check-out into a personalized and convenient experience.
